The U.S. Department of Justice issued a new rule under the Americans with Disabilities Act requiring all digital content used in university programs, services, or activities to be accessible by meeting specific technical accessibility standards. This includes digital content obtained or purchased from vendors.
Accessibility is a shared responsibility. This guide shares information on accessible procurement and evaluating for accessibility when exploring possible vendors.
For additional support, please contact the Deputy ADA Coordinator.
Accessible Purchasing Process
The university requires all purchases meet digital accessibility requirements whenever they include software, websites, online tools, or vendor‑provided digital content such as PDFs or reports. This ensures that technology and materials are usable by individuals with disabilities and compliant with federal disability laws.
