Guidance, requirements, and services for supporting staff members planning or operating noncredit programs and events, including youth activities, to make them more accessible for all and to respond to accommodation requests.
Guidance
Visit the Accessible events guide to make your programs and events more accessible for everyone. Following this guide reduces the need for disabled individuals to request a reasonable accommodation.
University Requirements
UW–150 contains information on how to respond to accommodation requests. This policy requires program and event hosts to:
- Include an accessibility tagline statement in the event announcement.
- Timely acknowledge an accommodation request.
- If medical documentation is provided, forward it to the McBurney Disability Resource Center.
- Consult with the McBurney Disability Resource Center before denying an accommodation or approving an alternative accommodation, unless the participant indicates the proposed alternative accommodation is effective.
Complete the Consultation Request Form for Departments and Hosts for support.
Services
The McBurney Disability Resource Center supports program and event hosts with designing inclusive events and providing accommodations for visitors, program participants, and guests.
